We all know fitness is important for our health. However, ideal workouts for teachers can be hard to find, because we don’t have a lot of free time! What I’ve learned over the past few years is that if I create healthy habits that are maintainable to add into my already busy schedule as a working mom, I’m much more likely to do it. That means for me, it’s a lot easier to fit in a 20 minute workout into my day at home before or after the work day than to get ready, drive to the gym, workout for an hour, and drive back home.
Workout DVDs are perfect for busy teachers and moms! There are some really great ones out there that pack a powerful punch into a short amount of time. I’ve picked my three favorite workouts for teachers. These workouts for teachers can get you from start to finish in as short as 10 minutes! So, no excuses! It’s time to create some healthy habits. The “But I Don’t Have Time To Workout” Teacher Workout
Amy Dixon Give Me 10! and Give Me 10 More! DVDs. I had to put these first because these are my current favorite- and I think they are perfect workouts for teachers. As you may already know, I am not currently teaching in the classroom because I am staying home with my 2 and a half year son and my 4 month old baby girl. However, I am working a LOT on creating teacher resources so I can still keep connected with teaching and also bring in an income while I’m home. Needless to say, between the two kids working from home on my teacher resources and blog, it doesn’t leave me much time to work out, just like a busy teacher! However, I know that I CAN make a habit of at least 10 minutes every day.
Even if I only have time to do one 10 minute segment, I feel like I’ve done a complete workout. I usually feel invigorated enough to do another (even when I didn’t feel like working out in the first place!) You can even play all 6 segments back to back for a full hour workout! That’s what I love about these workouts- they are flexible enough to fit into your schedule and still give you a full workout. Not only are the workouts great, but Amy Dixon is a very motivational trainer! She has released two of these time-saving DVDs: Give Me 10! and its sequel, Give Me 10 More! I love both equally and switch back and forth between them. It helps to have a variety of 10 minute workouts!
The “Perfect Go-To” Teacher Workout
Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred This was one of my very first workout DVDs, and it is still one of my favorites! Jillian Michaels workouts are challenging, but it is her tough love that keeps me motivated to finish the workout. This DVD includes 3 workouts- Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Each workout gets progressively more challenging. You’ll want to start at Level 1 and work your way up!
The workout’s use Jillian’s own 3-2-1 interval system. This is a circuit training system in which each circuit contains 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of core training. Each level has a total of 3 circuits. Each workout clocks in at about 28 minutes, making these videos the perfect go-to workouts for teachers. I absolutely LOVE her 3-2-1 system because it keeps your heart rate up while doing both cardio and strength training. She does this by working multiple muscle groups at the same time during the strength training exercises. It’s a very time efficient workout!

The “I Just Want To Punch Something (But Not Someone)” Teacher Workout
Jillian Michaels Kickbox Fastfix Teaching is a frustrating job- and that’s where this DVD with three time-saver workouts for teachers comes into play! Kickbox Fastfix is the perfect workout for burning off some steam after those really frustrating days at school. You know, those days where you just want to punch something. This DVD helps me relieve stress while getting the endorphins flowing! This workout isn’t quite as hardcore as 30 Day Shred, but it is a full-on cardio workout with a bit of strength training mixed in. There are 3 workouts included. Workout #1 includes some upper body exercises along with cardio, workout #2 focuses on cardio and lower body, and workout #3 focuses on your core and cardio.
