Special prompts and activities for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or winter, Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter, or the end of the year will help build community and let your students have fun writing.

Other holiday activities include Christmas compound words and Earth Day comic books.

Fourth graders enjoy sharing what they read with reading logs that they can use at home and school.

Help your fourth graders learn proper research skills with research topics for kids. Your students can study a variety of topics including winter holidays, black history, U.S. presidents, inventors and inventions, ancient civilizations, penguins, women’s history, and famous authors. Whether you want to use these bundles in social studies, science, or ELA, your students will love to explore these topics through reading and writing.

Science & Social Studies

Fourth grade scientists are ready to explore the world, experiment, and learn! Have them study extreme weather, natural disasters, and the water cycle. A study of volcanoes is not just the regular science fair project. It’s so much more! Share reading and writing connections about the solar system. What fourth grader doesn’t want to learn about dinosaurs? Read, research, and have your students make fun salt dough fossils! Landforms and bodies of water also make for an incredible integrated science and geography unit! There are so many research topics available in science.

In social studies, share units of U.S. presidents, and ancient civilizations. Fourth grade is a huge year for studying USA States, especially your students’ home state.
